In my animation project, I used the software After Effects, Adobe Animate, Photoshop, and Procreate. I was inspired by my roommate’s cat, Clyde, who is always finding himself in trouble and is sometimes too curious for his own good. There was one day where he broke into a whole bin on catnip, when I came home there was a huge mess and he was rolling around at the crime scene. Originally, I wanted to incorporate more funny memories similar to that, but unfortunately, I ran out of time and decided to solely focus on the catnip incident.
When creating the animation, I ran into a few problems with After effects on my computer. My PC could barely handle me using this software, let alone my laptop. I had many frustrating moments where I had to start over completely, and some instances where my work was deleted. I was beginning to lose hope in completing this project on time but ended up pulling something together.
I did enjoy using procreate again for animating. I had experience using it last year in a different class and felt like I had a lot more success with it. I would be interested in learning more about after effects, but with everything else piling up with school and work, I don’t think I was able to dedicate enough time to this project to be something I am truly proud of. Overall, it was not my favorite work I have ever created, but it was good practice using new software.
