Reading Blog #3

Net art aesthetics is something that was really interesting to to learn about. Firstly, the fact that is was mistakenly discovered through a glitch is incredible. It makes me wonder what the odds of that happening are, and if others would have discovered it eventually had it not been found by Vuk Cosic in 1995. The look of this art feels collage like in some of the images in the reading. What seems fairy basic to us, must have been difficult to learn then as well as exciting and fun for the people of that time. The Black and white images on page four is particularly striking to me, there’s something about the contrast and layout of not only the site itself, but the way the photos were taken.

Seeing how internet art started to where we are now is mind blowing. In less than 30 years, we can see how net art inspired the create of new type of internet art softwares and technology. We can now use Blender, Figma, Adobe, and many other softwares to create our own are with ease. There are now platforms where we can share our net art, which is widely accessible to the public or to whomever you allow. Instagram, as one example, provides a means of sharing. Many artists use this platform to promote their art, and many have become well-known in the community because of it. I can’t even fathom what net art will look like in another 30 years, how exciting!
